Calling all dog lovers! Have you been looking for the perfect place to take your four-legged friend, where biscuits and water are just as on demand as your favourite pint? Then this will be right up your street… Rover.com, the world’s largest network of 5-star pet sitters and dog walkers, are strolling up and down the country to sniff out the Top Dog of British pubs, in the 2019 Dog Friendly Pub Awards.

What’s more, you can get involved too! The awards have 13 Regional Winners which are selected by the public and their pooches showing who gets their paw of approval, by nominating and voting for their favourite pub. From here, a panel of expert judges come together to choose the overall National Winner.

Last year’s National Winner was The Dog at Grundisburgh, Woodbridge. Not only is this pub perfectly named, but the judges were impressed with the special touches such as dogs beds dotted around the pub, and a box full of toys for every man and his dog to enjoy! For the human visitors, The Dog is described as a ‘perfect idyllic English village pub’, ideal for a lazy Sunday afternoon.

A special bark of appreciation goes to the other 2018 Regional Winners listed below, with many of the winners noting that to them, it’s not just about being dog friendly but welcoming man’s best friend with open arms as part of the family

  • West Midlands – The Royal Oak
  • North East – The Keel Row
  • London – Hand in Hand
  • South West – The Halzephron Inn
  • Wales – The Bryntirion Inn
  • North West – The Maltings
  • East Midlands – The Lion at Basford
  • South East – Admiral’s Arm Micropub
  • Northern Ireland – O’Hares Lounge Bar

At Shark, we’re huge pet lovers and so we’re really proud to be sponsoring this year’s awards and supporting such a great initiative.
